About the Artist

My name is Jodie. I am a wife, mother of two teenagers, and a full time potter. For the past 9 years, I have taught pottery classes at the Michigan Art Center, in the Metro Detroit area. In June of 2024, I decided to give my full attention to Mudslinging Pottery, and I haven’t looked back. Instead of coming up with fun ideas each week, and teaching, I get to be the designer, maker, photographer, bookkeeper, social media person, marketing executive, packaging expert, and the least exciting job of all, the custodian of my studio. I wear a lot of hats, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I have had my hands in clay for almost 30 years, and I'm still just as in love as when I started. I am the type of person who likes to dabble in many art forms. Pottery, and photography are at the top of my list, and writing a book or two is somewhere on there too. I have a really wonderful, and supportive husband who built me the cutest little studio in the basement of our home. I absolutely feel like I'm living a dream, (don't pinch me). My style is heavily inspired by nature, and story telling with distressed undertones.  I show a lot of my pottery making process on my Instagram.  For those of you that like to support small business owners. I wish you could feel the giddy's, and see the elated smile that comes over us every single time a purchase is made. I feel so unbelievably blessed that I get to do this for a living, and I am not taking any of it for granted.
Thanks for your support
