About the Artist
Hi, I'm Jodie — the hands and heart behind Mudslinging Pottery.
I'm a wife, a mom to two amazing teenagers, and a full-time potter based in Metro Detroit. After nine wonderful years teaching pottery at the Michigan Art Center, I made the leap in June 2024 to focus fully on my own creative business — and I haven’t looked back since.
Now, instead of planning weekly classes, I get to wear all the hats: designer, maker, photographer, bookkeeper, social media manager, marketing exec, packaging expert, and yes, even studio custodian. It’s a lot — but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’ve had my hands in clay for nearly 30 years, and I’m still just as in love with it as the day I started. I’m a curious soul who loves to dabble in different art forms — pottery and photography are at the top of my list, with book-writing still quietly calling my name.
I work out of a cozy home studio (lovingly built by my incredibly supportive husband) where I create pieces inspired by nature, storytelling, and textures that feel a little worn and wild. My style is organic, earthy, and full of feeling — meant to be touched, used, and treasured.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll see behind-the-scenes peeks into my process — because sharing the making is just as important to me as the final product.
And to those who support small businesses like mine: I wish you could see the pure joy that lights up my face with every order. I’m beyond grateful to be living this dream, and I don’t take a single moment for granted.
Thank you for being here.
